Jesus & The Samaritan Woman

The passage in John 4 concerning Jesus' encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well has been on my heart for the last couple of weeks. Although the Gospels contain many interesting and revealing facts about the nature and purpose of Jesus, I think this passage reveals so much of Jesus' personality. Jesus came to do the Father's will. He makes this statement many times to the Pharisees and religious authorities of that time. He was not concerned with the popular views of that day. He was concerned about doing the will of God. In Hebrews 10:9 it is said of Him: "Here I am, I have come to do your will." If Jesus were a "people-pleaser" or one who allowed Himself to be swayed by popular opinion, the encounter with this woman of Samaria would have never taken place, and most likely, she would have never known Jesus and the salvation He brings.
